The color is great, a clear pale very light green. The louche started quickly and was complete, however in my own personal experience it didn't seem to stay louched for the length of time it took to drink. The aroma was - to me - a bit um... swampy, it didn't come across as clean as other absinthes I've had. It wasn't chemical, just not appealing. The flavor was OK but it had a terrible alcohol burn. My second glass I used a lot more water & an extra sugar cube but what I ended up with was a weak sugary conconction. All told I am glad its not my first absinthe, but I am disappointed it was my first Jade.

I'm very fond of Jade's Nouvelle Orleans. It pours out an attractive peridot green and louches to a pleasing jade. The color and louche are perhaps not as excellent as PF 1901, but are still very good. However, the aroma of the Nouvelle Orleans is truly outstanding. It's crisp, refreshing, spicy, and complex, and to my mind not a single note is out of place. The flavor is almost as good: there is bitterness and spice, but if those represent bass and treble, then there is perhaps less in the "mid-range" that would be ideal. The finish is good if not extraordinary, with the spice and bitterness lingering and some numbing of the tongue as well. Overall, I think the Nouvelle Orleans is a worthy cousin of the other Jade offerings, and it's definitely one I'll order again.

This is a really quirky absinthe, from the color, which is a very appealing deep green (neat), but tinged with blue, to the flavor, which reminds me of a spiced Christmas ale blended with a dash of Old Bay seasoning.

The louche is very good, but not great, with a nice opaque effect, but not much building action.

The finish is lengthy, but not particularly wormwoody, especially for absinthe which tested fairly high in residual thujone. (I believe it was in the 30s).

When I'm in the mood, it's a great oner, but more often than not, I'm not.
