Appearance: clear, bright and natural. No visible sediment.
Louche: milky and slightly opalescent. Attractive.
Aroma: less anise aroma than its La Belle Epoque sister. Slightly more wormwood. An underlying 'rooty' aroma, like gentiane.
Flavor: smooth and silky. Soft and mild anise and wormwood. No astringence. A bit more medicinal than La Belle Epoque, but also very light.
Finish: smooth with anise, wormwood and mint. mild numbing sensation from the anise. Long lasting.
Overall: Tasty, yet reserved. A very traditional but mild profile. Certainly easy to drink. This worked especially well in a 'Half Sinner, Half Saint' cocktail.
