A regionally available brand from Florida. Thanks to a friend for procuring a bottle for me.
Appearance: Quite light, but an attractive shade of green.
Louche: Very weak, even with a drip from an ice cold fountain. I was on the fence about giving it a 2 instead of a 3, but gave it the benefit of the doubt, as it doesn't seem like a brand that intentionally is leaving out anise to pander to the 'anise-free absinthe' crowd.
Aroma: Really weak. Hardly any aroma at 3:1. What is there smells nice, but you really have to dig your nose down into the glass to get anything.
Flavor: Again, very little there. Hints of anise and a bit of bitterness from wormwood. Almost like an herb flavored vodka. Not terrible, but terribly weak.
Finish: Some anise and astringence stick around for a while, but nothing remarkable.
Overall: There's really not much to talk about. They need to stuff more herbs into the pot and increase anise levels if they want to resemble absinthe more than vodka. Needs help, but could end up being nice with added flavor. I don't think they are intentionally misrepresenting absinthe, I just think that they are very VERY conservative with their approach to the flavor profile.
