Appearance: slight peridot hue. Very light coloration, but bright and attractive. No visible sediment.
Louche: crazy thick. Lots of action before it even reaches 1:1 ratio. Fully louched by 1:1. Opalescent and inviting.
Aroma: Herbaceous and inviting. Lots of wormwood and anise. Really inviting. Hints of citrus.
Flavor/Mouthfeel: Medicinal and herbal, with wormwood upfront and a generous helping of anise. As I 'chew' this, I get more licorice than anise, with the distinctive twang of licorice at the back of the throat. Although I've heard that Mr. Grand likes to push the boundaries of absinthe ingredients, this tastes very much like a traditional absinthe. Quite nice.
Finish: silky and smooth with lingering dryness and licorice.
Overall: A very enjoyable, traditionally flavored verte. If you get a chance to pick up a bottle, it's certainly worth it. It's understandable why this took Gold at the Absinthiades in 2016.
