Hi PF, welcome to the forum. Please follow the links in my signature to the forum rules and guidelines, give those a read, and then head over to the Newcomer Introduction thread and tell us a little about yourself.
Also, please undo your cap lock key. Writing in all caps online is like shouting, and it makes the post unpleasant to read.
Cheers,
GS

It's like a condom or country music. If used correctly she won't get pregnant.
Well, there is that small chance. *smile*

PF--could you tell me more about how wormwood oil helps creativity? I hear you can get just wormwood oil from health food stores.

Unfortunately, my Bro beat you to that question long ago. He just didn't put it in writing.
I think it's a good idea though.

The stuff at health food stores and herbalists is actually just a tincture, wormwood macerated in alcohol. Same thing with that Absente® Absinthe Essence™, just absinthium in alcohol. Steepsinthe, basically.

isn't Pernod kindof the same thing?

No. Pernod is an oil mix, not a macerate.

Ah, gotcha.
I'm curious to hear more about the bit on his page where wormwood => creativity.

Hey Scuto,
Isolated wormwood doesn't help my creativity, but relaxing with a glass of prepared absinthe does. Probably not much different than meditation, but with some alcohol content. Before the formal legalization here in the US, I used to buy bottles of Pernod minus the wormwood from the local liquor store so I could fix it in the ritualistic way w/ a spoon & enjoy the taste & experience. I guess it's just a thing I enjoy that helps me escape writers block.

When I first became interested in Absinthe, my net searches delivered many results of home recipes and most of them suggested soaking wormwood from the health store plus various things in vodka in a dark cupboard for some time... TERRIBLE. Out of curiosity, I made one once and didn't dare taste it when it was done - just a clear, horrid smelling concoction. A friend of mine drank some and to this day I feel bad for him!

Same here--it's the relaxation and being in the moment that brings creativity to the fore (again). Plus, it's durned tasty. My apologies: I misread your MS page.

If you were/are from the area, you should have gone with Pernod Philly. Street, with just a touch of bohemian.

www.myspace.com/pernodfilsI think ordinarily a lot of the great artists who were supposedly "fueled" by a substance - examples - Son House, Edgar Allen Poe, Beethoven, William S Burroughs, etc - they didn't exactly center their whole schtick on the substance itself. Burroughs was never "William B and the Arm-Shovers" or anything. John Lee Hooker might describe the act of being a "diving duck in a river of whiskey", or ordering "scotch bourbon and beer" to eliminate the bliues......but he was never "John and the Evan Williams bottle" or anything. It was more like incidental based on their personal circumstances (they may have picked up the habit along the way). To bring it up in such central context is a bit contrived IMO.
